Rapid Tranquillisation (RT) is defined as 'chemical restraint', referring to ‘the use of medication which is prescribed and administered (whether orally or by injection) for the purpose of controlling or subduing disturbed or violent behaviour.
The aim of the treatment is to swiftly calm a person down in emergencies, reducing the risk of violence or harm.
