This 1-day Immediate Life Support (ILS) training course provides you with the skills to act as a first responder in an emergency, prior to the arrival of an ambulance/ cardiac arrest team
This course comprises of expert blend of theory + immersive practical sessions and expands on existing knowledge of Basic Life Support (BLS) including:
- Airway management skills
- ECG recognition
- Rapid, safe defibrillation, using an AED or a manual defibrillator
Certificates are issued on the same day as the course and Certified by the CPD Standards Office contributing towards your revalidation points!

Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for all registered healthcare professionals, as a beginners course or as a refresher course, that may have to act as a first responder in an emergency, prior to the arrival of an ambulance/ cardiac arrest team.

By the end of this course you will understand: -
- The importance of early recognition and escalation of the deteriorating patient
- The reasons someone may have deteriorating health needs
- Complications with airway, breathing and circulation that can cause cardiac arrest
- The ABCDE approach to assess and treat critically ill patients
- The Ethical considerations regarding decisions about CPR
- The ReSPECT process and DNACPR
- Reversible factors
- Normal cardiac rhythm
- Medical emergencies
- The causes and prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest
- The skills of quality CPR and defibrillation (AED) and simple airway manoeuvres
- How to utilise non-technical skills to facilitate initial leadership and effective team membership
