The aim of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is to enhance the quality of life and well-being of individuals with challenging behaviours by promoting positive, proactive, and evidence-based interventions.
It seeks to understand the underlying causes of challenging behaviours and develop personalised strategies to address them effectively. PBS is a person-centred approach to care, providing long-term support to those with learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and autistic people.
By the end of the course, candidates will be able to:
• Define challenging behaviour
• Describe the common characteristics of challenging behaviours
